From a SEO perspective flash is less than ideal due to the difficulty search engine spiders have in seeing flash. Flash is like a gif or a picture; for a spider it appears as a only blank box. Flash is good for viral games and banners and headers. Viral games to generate some publicity about your product, Banners and Headers because they are usually just gifs or jpgs, so it doesn’t make any difference anyway. You can use swfobject if you are concerned about users without flash installed which replaces the flash with an image and or text. If you want a particularly arty design site, flash could well be for you, but if you want to get to the top of Google no matter what … then it would be wise to use flash sparingly.
